I use symbolism in most of my sculptures and other work, and with this piece I carved the symbols that the hobos used when the marked gates, fences and houses to alert other hobos to what kind of people lived in the house. The diamond shapes on her cheek meant Kind Woman Lives Here…. The hand is symbolic of a secret, and her face is light and dark….
